Philosophy Woodprints

The photographer Pauline von Hardenberg is a traveler, moving, charged with her own energy. She works in the genre of nature photography (landscape/wildlife), is fascinated by the silence, overwhelmed by the pace of the situations. Observations create images, the outside becomes the inside. Become one with nature, the wilderness, impassable undergrowth, incorruptible weather, uncertain light, unpredictable events, times that are difficult to plan.
The path of travel increases the awareness in this cosmos, the direct experience in the “works of nature” can be felt.

This “family picture” photo shows a herd of wild boars, a symbol of extended family and cohesion, a togetherness in familiarity and bond.

The motifs appear romantic to mystical in the cool light of the forest, in the middle of magnificent tree figures, wild birds and songbirds and other inhabitants of nature in the interplay of light and shadow.

The motif “hidden fallow deer” suggests that the photographer is hiding, yes, protecting the game, creating a scene of the invisible.

Pauline von Hardenberg transforms aesthetics, the theory of beauty, her view of the seemingly untouched, through the subjective section of her camera’s viewfinder. The special focal length of its high-quality and precise long-distance optics gives it the opportunity to create an intense closeness at the moment of discovery from the necessary distance and at the same time make the scene appear surreally picturesque.

Pauline von Hardenberg’s real camera is her heart, her inherent love for her subjects and her positive obsession with exposing herself to observation.

When producing Pauline von Hardenberg´s natural works, the focus is on the connection to the original. Malte Dinkelar’s wood printing workshop prints the motifs using a special process on wooden materials (format from 10 x 15 cm to 250 x 125 cm), e.g. on German spruce, which are unique due to their individual structure. The grain of the wood combines with the photographic motif and gives the work something special, universal and unique.
